The Chester County Commission continued their January meeting on Monday, Feb. 9, at the Chester County Courthouse. All members except one, Commissioner Todd Lewis, were in attendance at this meeting.
The meeting began with the approval of several quarterly reports in the county. The approvals included Chester County Schools, County Trustees, County General and Solid Waste.
In similar news, Solid Waste was recently approved for a small grant. The County was also approved for a $481,000 grant in order to restore the county courthouse.
The next item of business was the consideration of the retention of the position of Director of the Fire Department. This position was instituted on the condition of funds from a grant, and when that grant ran out, the position would be terminated. This position was extended due to the ice storm until the date of this meeting. A motion for this position to be paid till the end of February was unanimously approved. This will allow the Director to finish reports and train the other county fire department employees to complete duties that will be left unassigned.
