County approves ambulance contract

Posted

The Chester County Commission met Monday evening, Aug. 3, in continuation of their July 27 meeting, which was recessed to allow County Attorney Marty Phillips sufficient time to consider the contract with Medical Center EMS.
The meeting was brought back into order with 13 members present and five absent, including Dwight Bingham, Andrea Holland, Todd Lewis, Renee Phelps and Luke Weaver.
Kevin Deaton, Medical Center EMS representative, addressed the body, sharing that agreement had been reached on the five-year contract. Deaton said contract language had been changed concerning capital grants to note a reduction in the year’s subsidy when Medical Center benefits from grant distributions. Deaton explained that for any future grants awarded during the contract term, if EMS would benefit from equipment or items purchased by the county using the grant funds, then EMS would reduce the yearly subsidy by that amount.
Following further discussion of subsidiaries, disaster response, fulfillment of contract and day-to-day operations, the contract was approved in a unanimous roll call vote.
In other business, Commissioner Nathan Ward shared that the Miss West Tennessee State Fair competition has been accepted into the Miss Tennessee competition. This means that the local winner will go on to represent the West Tennessee State Fair in the Miss Tennessee competition.
