City of Henderson approves first reading of amending 504 Fourth Street to I - Institutional

During the April Henderson Mayor and Board of Alderman meeting, The board approved the first reading to consider action on an ordinance amending the Municipal Zoning Ordinance to rezone 504 Fourth St. (Tender Loving Daycare) from R-2 Residential to I – Institutional. It will have a second reading in May.
While in delegations, Rev. Marles Flowers asked the City of Henderson for a $5,000 donation toward the 2022 Juneteenth Celebration at the Vincent High School soccer field.
Mayor King and the aldermen said that all money in this fiscal year ending in June 2022 has been designated, so they decided to not take action until the May meeting to see what can be done.
Another thing mentioned was that the most money the city donates to the Library at $4,000. All other donations, such as non profit donations for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Dixie Youth and Imagination Library, is $2,000, and the board mentioned how this would be a factor in their decision-making.
The City of Henderson’s matching retirement rate for the 2022-23 budget year was approved at 10% which is higher than the minimum employer rate of 7.01.
After discussing the bids on the Industrial Park Site Development Grant Phase II Grading Project, the board voted to reject the current bids and have the engineer adjust the project for lower costs. Bids will be considered again during the May meeting.
The board approved to have ATA do the audit for the current budget year that ends June 30, 2022.
Item I on the agenda was approved which was the adoption of a resolution approving acceptance of the DRA Water Line Grant, approving the local matching funds and approve that Mayor King is authorized to sign all necessary documents.
The replacement of the splash pad surface at Gene Record Memorial Park was also approved.
The purchase of an equipment trailer for the utility department was approved along with the installation of Three-Phase Electric Power to the Fourth Street Sewer Pumping Station which will cost the city $10,500 by Southwest Electric.
