The City of Henderson Board of Mayor and Aldermen is scheduled to meet in regular session at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, August 13, 2026, in the Council Chamber of Henderson City Hall.
The tentative agenda includes discussion of a variety of subjects including budget amendments, municipal codes, ordinances, construction projects and grants.
In consideration of an amendment to the Municipal Zoning Ordinance text pertaining to the use of Mini-Storage facilities, to allow the use of storage containers with restrictions in B-1 and B-4 Business zones, the Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed amendment and consideration of ordinance on storage containers.
Grant discussions will include consideration of a downtown façade grant and a resolution to approve the application for a Public Entity Partners (the City’s insurance carrier) Property Conservation Grant. This program has a 50% local match with a maximum grant amount of $4,000.
In relation to city employees, the Board will discuss/approve the city employee’s health insurance matching rate effective, January 1, consider a resolution increasing the city travel rates for mileage and meals and consider an ordinance amending the Henderson Municipal Code Title 1, Chapter 2, “Mayor” and Chapter 3, “City Recorder.”
Business pertaining to the Henderson Fire Department will include consideration of an ordinance amending the 26-27 Budget related to the replacement of the Fire Engine, discussion of repairs needed to the aerial fire truck as well as quotes received to troubleshoot the issues and discussion/consideration of action on fire hydrant testing quotes.
A change order will be considered for the Water Plant project, with discussion to include additional control systems not in the original bid.
The Board will address a street widening project, discussing an application to TDOT to jump start the West Main Street widening project from Church Avenue to US Highway 45. There will also be discussion of donating the city’s balance of Surface Transportation Funds (STBG) as part of the application, to help fund the project. The practice of hanging of banners across streets will be discussed with consideration of replacing this procedure with post mounted options.
In addition to other business, the Board is scheduled to consider approval of an amended Dog Pound Fee Schedule and to discuss parking at Gene Record Park.
