Chester County High School Cross Country competes at State meet

Posted

The CCHS Cross Country Boys team along with girls cross country runner Julia Briggs prepare to leave CCHS for the State Cross Country meet with coach Stephanie Hatch.

On Thursday, November 3. Chester County cross country was able to travel to Hendersonville, Tennessee to compete in the annual State Championship Race.
Julia Briggs, the first girl to compete at state for Chester County in nearly 20 years, was able to find her stride early and came out with a 63rd overall finish, solidifying her place in Chester County’s history books.
On the boy’s side, due to the team placing at the Regional Championship race, the team in its entirety was able to compete in the race as well. Out of 257 total runners, the top finishers for the boys included Stewart Brown who placed fifth overall, followed by Silas McManus who placed 32nd, Brooks Johnson who placed 116th, Joshua Roberts who placed 141st, Dillon Williams who placed 154th, and Cooper Thompson who placed 168th. These placements allowed the guys to place 13th out of 33 total teams.
This is a very young team with much potential. Three out of the top eight were freshmen this year and you can bet money on it that they will be able to contend for a sixth straight Regional Championship and a trip to State next fall.
