Chester County faced a tough week at home, falling to South Side on Tuesday and to McNairy on Friday night in high school boys basketball action.
On Tuesday, Chester County was slowed by early foul trouble and an in-game injury in a 62–27 loss to South Side. South Side jumped out to a 16–5 first-quarter lead as Chester County’s rotation was impacted when Lane Estes picked up three fouls before the six-minute mark of the opening period. The challenges continued in the second quarter when Jasce Alexander was forced to leave the game after taking a charge. South Side extended its lead to 30–12 at halftime and pulled away in the second half.
Elam Murphy led Chester County with 8 points, including two 3-pointers. Jaden Williams also scored 8 points, while Jay Brown added 5.
Chester County returned to action Friday night against McNairy, staying within striking distance early before McNairy pulled away late for a 52–42 win.
Chester County led 15–12 after the first quarter and carried a 27–24 advantage into halftime. McNairy regained momentum in the third quarter, edging ahead 34–31, and closed the game by outscoring Chester County 18–11 in the final period.
Jaden Williams led Chester County with 14 points against McNairy. Elam Murphy finished with 8 points, and Timothy Goodman added 7.
Following the loss, Chester County stands at 2–16 overall and 0–3 in district play. The Eagles would be back on the road Tuesday, Jan 20, traveling to Hardin County before heading to Lexington on Friday, Jan. 23.
