The Chester County Democratic Party is pleased to announce that it will resume awarding a scholarship of $500 to a graduating senior each year at Chester County High School. As a result of a donation from the estate of Regina Woods East, the party will restart this annual award, according to the local party chair, Gloria Holiday. This award will be available for the senior class of 2025.
Regina East taught high school for many years and was a strong supporter of students continuing their education. The Kenneth and Rebecca Woods and the Bob and Regina East families were active members of the Chester County Democratic Party for many years, serving as delegates to the National Democratic Convention. Believing in the values of the Democratic Party, they strongly supported our public schools, serving the needs of others and especially aspiring young people wishing to pursue higher education.
Ms. Starla Teague, local high school instructor, will be the coordinator for this award. A committee of local party members will select the recipient based on a written essay. The award will be called the Regina Woods East Scholarship by the Chester County Democratic Party.
To obtain a link to the application, email starla.teague@chestercountyschools.com. A one-page essay, entitled “Defining Democracy” must be attached to the application when returned. All applications are due to Mrs. Teague’s email address by Friday, April 25.
