Celebrate America 250 on June 27

Chester County’s America 250 celebration is Saturday, June 27 at the Chester County Courthouse, and will be packed full of fun. With Living History exhibits, Reenactors, an art contest, parade, fireworks, music, food and more, the day’s festivities include something for everyone.
The event kicks off at noon with an opening ceremony with Henderson Mayor Terry Bell and Chester County Mayor Barry Hutcherson.
Afternoon events will follow as ordered below, with times subject to change:
• A history panel discussion will follow opening ceremony
• 2:30, dedication of the Liberty Tree
• Awards presented for the Art Contest
• 3 p.m., Performances by Chester County Junior High and Chester County High School students
• Musical performances
• 5 p.m., Parade
• Continued musical performances
• 8:45 p.m., Fireworks - best view from courthouse lawn
Throughout the day, attendees can witness moments in America’s history, through Living History exhibits, war time reenactors, exhibits by local churches and area communities. All local churches are invited to contact the Chamber at 989-5222, to set up a booth for their organization.
The Chamber is accepting submissions for the Art Contest through June 15. The contest is for students grade K-12, with categories Elementary K-2, Elementary 3-5, Middle School 6-8 and High School 9-12. Students who would like to participate are to choose an American Hero, then create a 2D artwork and write a short artist statement.
Parade entries are still being accepted, particularly for patriotic floats and military/emergency vehicles. Check out the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Facebook page for more information in joining the parade.
