Over the course of the summer, Williams Auditorium has been in the process of being upgraded from the bottom up.
By the time the auditorium is finished in mid-September, it will have new stage lighting, a new sound booth with new sound equipment, new paint on the walls and ceiling, and new flooring, new bathroom fixtures, remodeled backstage facilities and new seating.
Director of Chester County Schools, Dr. Troy Kilzer III, said the new color scheme and design in Williams Auditorium is designed to look more modern.
“We decided to raise the quality of life for events,” he said.
With the help of Chester County School Board member and Thomas Media Operations Manager Shane Connor, Kilzer has been working to make Williams Auditorium a live events venue for larger events as well for performers from outside the community.
He hopes it gives the community the chance of just traveling a small distance for big events.
“It just has a nice seating capacity,” he said. “We really hope that the people who watch TV come and watch our live events.”
Huge events are already scheduled to take place at the venue. An Acapella Fest is scheduled for Sept. 21 with performances by Tower Lights”, Flee Temptations and The Hims along with a performance by The Sidewalk Prophets on Oct. 27 during their “These Simple Truths Tour.”
Kilzer gives great thanks to Connor, elementary school fine arts teacher Becky Hartle, and Mary Hix for all they done to make this a success.
“I’m thankful to these people who want to invest into Williams Auditorium for fine art programs,” he said.
On the new website williamsauditorium.com, people can find the schedule of events and purchase tickets as well.
