Hello to everyone! It is a blessing to be here with you this week! I am so sorry for the weeks I have missed. I hope you forgive me; however, this is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Well, August is here, and school will start on Friday, Aug. 2. The City of Henderson appreciates all of the staff within our educational structure who have helped our schools to be so successful. Thank you to our Principals, Teachers, SPED, Other Faculty, Secretaries, Teacher Assistants, Grandmothers, Bus Drivers, Bus Maintenance, Cooks, Janitors and Other Faculty. To all of the new and returning staff, from the Principal to the Janitor, the City would like to let you know how much we appreciate you. Thank you for choosing to teach our children, feed them, drive them to/from school and clean up after them. It takes special people to do what you do.
Let us keep our children in prayer. Like Ms. Juanita Clay said, “Pray for the protection, safety, obedience, aptitude enhancement, cohesiveness of relationships between student to student; student to teacher; teacher to teacher; teacher to administrators; the increase of attendances by students; and all workers within the educational structure. Remember the prayer does not stop there; we must continue to pray every day and thank the Lord for a great year.”
On Saturday, July 24, there was pattering of feet of all sizes in the Chester County Middle School. It was the” Back to School BASH,” and what a bash it was. Over 200 people came through the line, including dads, moms and the children. How do I know? I was there to greet ever person at the door. The parents were telling me how happy they were to receive the backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms for their child/children. Some even received child wellness screening. To see the faces of the children as they were leaving with their new backpack filled with school supplies. One little girl had her backpack, and it was as large as she was. She was so happy! It was a moment to remember. Many parents told me that it was a blessing and that they look forward to it each year. Thank you, Chester County Advisory Board, for the great work in the community. Oh yes, a BIG shout out to the principal at the Middle School, Mr. Tommie Kirk, for allowing us to be inside the gym this and not outside in the sun.
The Chester County Head Start is still taken applications for the school year 2019-2020. Child must be three or four years old by Aug. 15. For more information, please call 989-2561 or 989-5111.
One last thing, this subject is dear to my heart. I went to a training last week, and one of topics was on Alzheimer’s. My father-in-law died from this disease. Amanda Barlow Leitch, Alzheimer’s Tennessee, West Tennessee Regional Coordinator gave an outstanding presentation. If our family had known some of the information she gave, it would have helped our family tremendously.
Amanda will be at the Old Country Store Ice Cream Parlor, 56 Casey Jones Lane, Jackson, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Aug. Amanda will be there. If you or someone you know want to learn about the Alzheimer’s and related dementia diseases, come out to the Old Country Store. You can also give Amanda a call at 694-8065 if you have any questions or concerns.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 989-1907 and leave your message, or you may email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
