Hot, Hot, Hot! I am ready for cooler weather. I hope you all had a wonderful week.
Hunter and Heaven had a beautiful outside wedding Saturday at a venue in McKenzie. The weather could not have been any nicer. She was a beautiful bride, and, of course, he was the most handsome groom ever! Her parents are Ginny and Brian Thomas. I do not know who cried more - her or me. We have some smart kids! We have waited for this for a long time, but they wanted to plan it and pay for it as they went so that they were not in debt. Not many young people do that. They are on their honeymoon in Gatlinburg. They are saving to go an island a year from now. We are all so proud of them. Now, we wait for grandchildren. Well, great-grandchildren for me. Thanks for all the friends and family who made it so special. Heaven surprised me with a dance with Hunter! It turned out to be so special and emotional. He and I started crying, wishing his mom was there. Then, I saw Mitch and the whole wedding party crying. I pulled Mitch in with us, and Orban joined us on the floor. Everyone was crying with us. She was definitely right there in the middle of us.
Prayers are appreciated for Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming and Ms. June Davis. Please remember to pray for our shut-ins and nursing home residents and visit them when you can. Please remember our military, our law enforcement and first responder, and do not forget the ones who have lost loved ones.
Happy birthday this week to Betty Quarles and Sherry Escue on Sept. 11; Kimberly Weaver on Sept. 12; Gaynell Dees, Coley Tully and Carol Perkins on Sept. 14; April Collins and Cayce Perkins on Sept. 15; and Barbara Tutor and Larry Shackleford on Sept. 17. Have a blessed day and celebrate big time. Middle age is the awkward period when Father Time starts catching up with Mother Nature.
The Chester County FCE will meet at Deanburg Community center at 9 a.m. Sept. 20. There will be a potluck meal, and auction proceeds will go to Chester County Carl Perkins.
Devotion for this week comes from Grace For the Moment by Max Lucado. “John 5:24 - ‘I tell you the truth, whoever hears what I say and believe in the One who sent me has eternal life.’ When you recognize God as Creator, you will admire him. When you recognize his wisdom, you will learn from him. When you discover his strength, you will rely on him. But only when he saves you will you worship him. It’s a “before and after” scenario. Before your rescue, you could easily keep God at a distance…sure he was important, but so was your career. Your status. Your salary…then came the storm…the rage…the fight…the ripped moorings…despair fell like a fog; your bearings were gone. In your heart, you knew there was no exit. Turn to your career for help? Only if you want to hide from the storm…not escape it. Lean on your status for strength:? A storm isn’t impressed with our title…suddenly you are left with one option. God...In the Eye of the Storm.”
I pray you all have a wonderful and blessed week where everything just falls into place for you! Keep smiling, and you will receive one back. My number is 879-9777 to report and news or family events.
