Hello from Deanburg! As far as I know, things have been quiet in our little community, but I probably would not hear anyway.
Prayers are appreciated for Kristen Carlton Jones. She got good news last week, and she is expecting a baby! Congratulations on both counts! Also, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Charles and Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier and Woodie Deming; Include Ms. June Davis. Please remember to pray for our shut-ins, nursing home residents and visit them when you can. Please remember our military, our law enforcement and first responder, and do not forget the ones that have lost loved ones.
Doris Siler, everywhere you go you fill up the place with smiles. This is why, for your birthday, I wish that life always gives you a reason to smile for as long as you live. Happy Birthday, sweet cousin!
Alex Evans celebrates on Aug 3. I have watched you grow from a little brat to a fine young man. I hope you have a wonderful life ahead.
Happy anniversary to Michael and Sharon Hopper on Aug. 6!
Congratulations to Katilyn Henson (Mitchell’s sister) and Tyler Glenn on the birth of their big baby boy (eight lbs., six ozs.) His name is Jordan. He is precious! Mitchell is a proud Uncle.
Our sincere condolences to the family of Brienda Mainers. She passed away this past weekend, and visitation will be Thursday at 5-8 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home in Bolivar with funeral services Friday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Springs United Methodist Church in Deanburg. Her husband Earl Mainers preceded her in death Dec. 21, 2011. They have two sons; Ben and Richard Mainers.
Our devotion for the week: “What a comfort to know that God will always be here, even when I stray from my path, when I feel like giving up, when the discouragement is too strong for me to bear. All of that fatigue is countered with the strength of God on a mission. Knowing that brings a rest that can prepare us to rejoin the challenges we face. God’s strength of purpose will not wane because it’s part of Who He is. And He makes it available to us, to become another part of who we are, too.
I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Psalm 16:7-8.NKJV ………. From ‘You Still Here, Lord.” By Karon Phillips Goodman
I pray the Lord blesses you richly this week. Keep smiling and share your joy.
